Swati Maliwal was dragged by a man on the road outside AIIMS.

According to police, they received a PCR call around 3.11 a.m. reporting that a man inside a Baleno car allegedly made inappropriate gestures at a woman and dragged her down the road.

Police said Thursday that Delhi Commission for Women Chairperson Swati Maliwal was dragged for 10-20 meters after her hand became stuck in the window of a man’s car on the road outside AIIMS. Harish Chandra, 47, a resident of Sangam Vihar, was arrested on charges of molestation and causing bodily harm, according to police.

According to police, they received a PCR call around 3.11 a.m., stating that a man inside a Baleno car allegedly made an illegal entry.

“Our special patrolling vehicle had made the PCR call after the personnel spotted a lady outside the hospital,” said Chandan Chowdhary, DCP (South). Swati Maliwal was her name… She mentioned that a drunk driver in a Baleno stopped near her and asked her to sit inside… with bad intentions. When she refused, he left but returned and asked her to sit in the car once more. She refused once more and approached his side to chastise him. The driver quickly rolled up the window, and her hand became stuck… She was dragged for about 10-15 meters”.

According to police, the control room broadcasted the message about the incident at 3.12 a.m. and began tracing the car. At 3.15 a.m., the PCR team requested that police officers from Kotla Mubarakpur locate the car. The ACP and the teams arrived at the location around 3.20 a.m. Police reported finding the car and apprehending the accused at 3.34 a.m.

“On the day of the incident, he met two of his friends for drinks near Sarojini Nagar. He was on his way home when he saw Maliwal. “He was attempting to flee, and we apprehended him,” police claimed.

Police acted immediately in response to Maliwal’s statement. “We have received her written complaint. The complainant and the driver of the vehicle were both sent for medical evaluations. “The accused has been arrested,” said the DCP.

“Last night, I was inspecting the situation of women’s security in Delhi,” Maliwal tweeted. An inebriated car driver molested me, and when I caught him, he locked my hand in the car window and dragged me. My life was saved by God… Imagine the situation if the Chairperson of the Women’s Commission is not safe in Delhi”.

But Netizens have a different perspective on the situation, many people are saying that Swati’s claims are baseless as in the video it’s clear she wasn’t dragged and it’s a fake video created by her. Let’s see the tweets.
