Modi Welcomes HanuMankind with ‘Jai Hanuman’ in NYC

On Sunday Long Island, New York, during the ‘Modi and US’ event rapper HanuMankind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a meeting. In an effort to strengthen bilateral ties, PM Modi held the event at Nassau Coliseum as part of his three-day visit to the US.

HanuMankind, whose real name is Sooraj Cherukat, captivated the audience with his performance. The video has since been widely posted on numerous websites. Prime Minister Modi greeted the Kerala-born rapper with a handshake and embrace after his performance. He expressed his appreciation for the act by chanting “Jai Hanuman” and hugging the rapper. 

HanuMankind, who is well-known for songs like “Big Dawgs”, “Rush Hour” and “Go To Sleep”, is rising to stardom in the popular hip-hop scene.

Additional performers at the event included composer Devi Sri Prasad and singer Aditya Gadhvi. Aditya, who rose to stardom with his viral song “Khalasi”, played to 13,500 people. Devi Sri Prasad, known for his work on hit movies like Waltair Veerayya and Pushpa: The Rise, also met Prime Minister Modi.

Tamil Nadu-based Indian expats also performed a traditional musical performance of the “Parai” during the event. A troupe had earlier performed outside the Nassau Coliseum, showcasing Mallakhamb, a distinctive acrobatic art from Maharashtra.

At the ‘Modi & US’ event on September 22, the Prime Minister spoke to a large audience of Indian-Americans. He highlighted India’s rapid progress and addressed important issues affecting both India and the Indian diaspora. Declaring, “You are the bridge that connects our two great democracies”, he addressed the Indian community in the United States as “brand ambassadors” of India, recognizing the vital role that Indian-Americans play in both nations. 

After the function, PM Modi participated in a roundtable discussion in New York. He met with the CEOs of key US tech companies.
