Indian pilot, Captain Gopichand Thotakura, makes history by being the first visitor to space on Blue Origin’s journey

A skilled pilot, Captain Gopichand Thotakura, born in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, has been chosen for space travel with Blue Origin’s next tourism journey. He will travel on Blue Origin’s New Shepard spacecraft with Mason Angel, Sylvain Chiron, Kenneth L. Hess, Carol Schaller, and former Air Force Captain Ed Dwight.

Comes from a family of pilots, Gopichand Thotakura became obsessed with flying and aviation at the age of 8 when he entered the cockpit of KLM cockpit. He said that being part of this fantastic journey is honorable, and humans are always curious to learn more about space, for innovation and developing technology. He remarked, “I hope that other Indians and people everywhere would be motivated to reach high and pursue their dreams by this journey.”

Jeff Bezos, CEO of Amazon, launched Mission Blue Origin with the aim of commercial space travelling. This mission also targets the suborbital ride for space travellers to expand their business to space.
