Wipro initially promised freshers an annual package of Rs 6.5 lakh, but it is now asking them to accept nearly 50% less pay than it originally offered. Here’s the whole story.
Wipro is reducing salary offers to new recruits after promising them a high annual salary. The tech firm initially promised to pay freshers who successfully completed their training at Wipro an annual package of Rs 6.5 lakh. According to an official email sent to new recruiters, candidates are now asked to accept nearly 50% less pay than initially offered.
According to the email obtained by Business Standard, Wipro will now only be able to pay freshers an annual package of Rs 3.5 lakh. All Wipro candidates who participated in the company’s Velocity graduates program this year received the revised low-salary offer. The company is not pressuring the candidates to accept the offer and is giving them a specific time frame to decide whether they want to accept a lower salary.
“Like others in our industry, we continue to assess global economies and customer needs, which factor into our hiring plans. We currently have project engineer positions available for hire, with an annual salary of Rs 3.5 lakh. If you accept this offer, all previous offers will be void,” the company stated in an email to new candidates.
