In a shocking revelation of the murder of the 24-year-old woman, Delhi Police revealed that Sahil Gehlot and Nikki Yadav married in a secret ceremony in October 2020 at an Arya Samaj Mandir in Noida.

On February 10, Gehlot allegedly murdered Yadav in the parking lot of Delhi’s Nigam Bodh Ghat crematorium. He then drove over 40 kilometers to his village of Mitraon in northwest Delhi. He left the body in the car at a dhaba owned by his family. He married another woman that evening, arranged by his family, and returned to his restaurant late that night to stuff the body into a fridge.
Police also arrested Gehlot’s father, Virendra Singh, two cousins, Ashish Kumar and Naveen (who goes by a single name), and two friends, Lokesh Singh and Amar Singh, according to the special commissioner.
During detailed questioning by police, Gehlot told investigators that Nikki Yadav and he married on October 1, 2020, but she was now pressuring him to marry her in a formal ceremony, according to the special commissioner. When he told his family, the five accused allegedly plotted to kill Yadav. According to the senior officer, Gehlot told the five accused about the murder soon after strangling her with a mobile phone data cable.
“We are still investigating to gather more information,” said the special commissioner.
“Despite questions from the investigators, the five accused feigned ignorance,” said another senior officer familiar with the investigation. They were attempting to arrange for a large suitcase and a large vehicle for Gehlot to dispose of the dead body at a hill station after the murder.” This officer requested anonymity.
On February 14, crime branch officials arrested Gehlot for allegedly killing Yadav hours before marrying another woman. According to investigators, Gehlot and Yadav were in a relationship at the time and had been living together for a few years.

According to the second officer quoted above, many contradictions were discovered between the accused’s statement before the police and the facts discovered during the investigation. “Police took Gehlot to the victim’s house in Uttam Nagar and the scene of the murder to recreate the sequence of events” (Nigambodh Ghat, as per his statement). However, there were numerous inconsistencies in his statement. “Even his timeline does not exactly corroborate his statements to the police,” he said.
The officer went on to say that the police had summoned the Nigambodh Ghat parking staff, who had allegedly seen the couple arguing in the car, to join the investigation on Friday.
“We’ve seized the DVR of the CCTV cameras and will use the footage as key evidence to establish that the couple was present in the parking lot. We took Gehlot back to Yadav’s apartment and asked him to explain when he arrived, what happened between him and Yadav in the apartment, and when they left the building. Gehlot previously stated that he left the flat around 1.30 a.m. “However, when we checked the CCTV cameras installed at the building and in the lane outside, it showed that the couple left around 5 a.m.,” the investigator said.
“Since the route through the Outer Ring Road is very long, it will take time to locate CCTV cameras and collect footage. The footage will help us confirm his version of the route he took on his way to Mitraon. “Gehlot was also taken to the dhaba to recreate the sequence of him parking the car, shifting Yadav’s body from the front seat into the trunk, and finally dumping her body in a refrigerator,” the officer added.
Sunil Yadav, the victim’s father, stated that the arrest of the alleged conspirators is a victory for justice. “They are wealthy individuals. Only the rule of law can teach them a lesson. I want the killer to be hanged,” he told HT over the phone.
