Memphis Depay, with his performance in the Champions Trophy Qualifier between Manchester United and Club Brugge, attracted a lot of praise since he scored 2 goals and assisted in the third scored by Fellaini. This is the Young Dutchman’s first season at #ManU. Brugge were down to 10 men but most of the damage had been done already by Depay in the first half itself. All this happened after a disastrous start for ManU with a #Carrik Own Goal.

Manchester United’s social media team was quick to compare Depay with some great No 7s that ManU have fielded. Names included greats like #DavidBeckham and #current hottie #Ronaldo. The post also featured Angel Di Maria and Valencia. Fans of ManU and otherwise were quick to notice the most famous No7 of all time Eric Cantona. The French Man nicknamed a ‘King Eric’ has been voted the most popular ManU player ever in a Poll.
There’s a new no.7 in town… and his name is Memphis Depay.

One of the Comments Anders Everhard Schrøder .. never EVER post 5 pics of Man Utd. no. 7’s without one of Cantona. Ever! got nearly 12000 likes and everyone seemed to agree.
Di Maria seems to have made a lot of ManU people unhappy as suggested by comments like Khan Navid Hasan remove Di maria please. no place for snakes! which also got nearly 5000 nods.
It is too early to say if the £8.5m invested on #MemphisDepay by the club will be worth or not.
