Vanity Fair’s Hollywood issue cover is out and it focuses on female diversity. Last year the cover featured barely any non-white actors, and this year legendary photographer ,Annie Leibovitz, captured 13 strong actresses in their raw beauty.
The 13 most iconic women from all ages – Viola Davis, Lupita Nyong’o, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Jane Fonda, Jennifer Lawrence, Diane Keaton, Helen Mirren, Brie Larson, Charlotte Rampling, Rachael Weisz, Alicia Vikander and Saoirse Ronan are featured in the latest issue of Vanity Fair magazine.
The cover released on Snapchat and featured four women who appear before the fold- Jane Fonda, Cate Blanchett, Viola Davis, and Jennifer Lawrence.
Something more fascinating is that each of the four women pictured before the fold has spoken out about the problems with Hollywood. Blanchett spoke about how women behind and in front of the camera aren’t given enough chances to succeed; Davis has been vocal about the need for diversity and the lack of roles for people of colour , Fonda talked about the need for equal representation in movies; and Lawrence has been an advocate for equal pay.
Vanity Fair shared the image on Twitter, asking the rhetorical question, “Could these women be any more impressive?”
