Anurag Kashyap’s Raghav Raman 2: 0 has had two sell-out screenings at the Cannes Film Festival over the last two days. The screening received a standing ovation by the audiences and immediately post which the team gathered together to celebrate their excitement.
“All the international media love the film. And they are saying the most incredible things about my performance. Hollywood Reporter has even compared my performance to Anthony Hopkins in The Silence Of The Lambs. It feels good.” says Nawaz, as he gets ready for another screening of his film.
He is glad the international audience is getting the cultural context of the serial killer’s story. “I was a little unsure of how they’d see the milieu and the time-line (the 1960s) when the film unfolds. But the audience here got the point. At the media interaction they asked all the suitable questions.”
So far Nawaz has not found time to see anyone else’s films in Cannes. “And I don’t think I’ll get the time for seeing films or looking around this beautiful town. This is my third visit to Cannes.Every time I am surprised by the enthusiasm for my films and performances although they are always so rooted to the Indian context.”
