National Safety Day: A Day to Celebrate National Safety

Every year on March 4, National Safety Day is marked with the goal of promoting safe workplaces and ensuring people’s safety in all contexts. with 52nd anniversary this year The theme selected for National Safety Day 2023 is to increase public knowledge of safety, precautions and protocols in order to prevent any type of unfavourable incidence.

History and significance of the day

On March 4, 1966, the National Safety Council was created as a non-profit, self-supporting organisation by the Ministry of Labour and Employment of the Government of India.

The necessity of safety procedures is emphasised on National Safety Day in order to protect thousands of lives. This day strives to increase public awareness of and instruction on safety standards.

Formation of national safety council

In order to execute a voluntary routine for safety, health, and the environment (SHE) at the national level, the Ministry of Labour and Employment founded the National Safety Council of India in 1966. The inaugural National Safety Day was commemorated back in 1972.
