“I’ve been told you shouldn’t be doing this. Do what a girl is required to be doing. I just do not care about what people say.” Says IBBFF Miss India, 2016

Breaking all the sexist barriers, Yashmeen Chauhan Manak has been able to win (International Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation) Miss India 2016. She went from being bullied about her weight to becoming a fitness professional, powerlifter, and bodybuilder!

She won the gold in the Women’s Physique and Women’s Fitness categories in the IBBFF Miss India, 2016 edition, which is a combination of a pageant and a spectator sport. She also won the Gladrags Mrs India Best Body Award in 2005, she was the first runner-up in Fit Factor 2015, and she was the first woman who opened a gym in Gurgaon.

“I believe that normal is boring. I have chosen a profession where I have stepped into a so-called man’s domain.”

The 37-year-old was not always this fit. When she was in seventh grade, she was diagnosed with typhoid fairly late, as a result of which she had to be given steroids, which resulted in severe acne, hair loss, and weight gain. She even followed Jane Fonda’s fitness videos to get in shape.

This ACSM (American College of Sports Medicine) certified personal trainer is also a Reebok-certified aerobics instructor, and a biking enthusiast.
