India did well to reach 267 for nine after a not so stable start before dismissing Sri Lanka for 170 in 42.4 overs. The batting stars were Sarfaraz Khan(59)and Anmolpreet Singh (72).
The target was not a big one but Sri Lankans failed to rotate strike, and regular loss of wickets meant the asking rate was going up. Sri Lanka’s hopes of reaching its second ever final was over when the scoreboard read 133 for six in the 35th over.
India now awaits either West Indies or Bangladesh in the finals to be played on February 14.
Former English county cricketer, Alan Wilkins took to twitter to congratulate India.
