JalliKattu is a bull training event in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu on Maatu Pongal Day. In this event, a running bull is released into a crowd of people. Participant attempts to grab bull’s hump or a flag affixed on bull’s horn. JalliKattu has been practiced from ancient periods. Animal activists and PETA India have protested against the practice since 2004.In May 2014, the Supreme Court of India banned the practice.Many people were seen in Alanganallur town, against the ban imposed on JalliKattu.
