First Indian to Qualify for the World Kickboxing Championship

Seven-year-old Tajamul Islam is all set to become the first Indian to represent the country in the World Kickboxing Championship, which will take place in Italy in November this year.

Tajamul comes from a small village in Kashmir’s Bandipora district. Her father, Ghulam Mohammad Lone, is a driver for the Hindustan Construction Company. In 2014, she has adjudged the best fighter in the state of Jammu & Kashmir.

In December 2015, she won a gold medal in the sub-junior category at the National Kickboxing Championship in Delhi, thereby qualifying for the World Championship.
