Easter Sunday Explosion in Pakistan Leaves 65 dead.

Easter celebrations in Lahore, Pakistan was interrupted on Sunday evening when an explosion wrenched through Gulshan-e-Iqbal park.

Preliminary reports indicate that at least 65 were killed and more than 300 were wounded in the blast, according to local news outlets. Senior police officer Haider Ashraf said, “The Associated Press that the incident appears to be the work of a suicide bomber.”

Gulshan-e-Iqbal was filled with Christians who were out celebrating Easter, according to Ashraf. He also indicated that the explosion looks to have been triggered close to where children were gathered to enjoy the park’s rides.

Ashraf, on Sunday also said that many of the wounded are listed in critical condition.

In its own report, ARY News added that all of Lahore’s hospitals have been elevated to “emergency” status. Some of the wounded at Shaikh Zaiyed Hospital and Jinnah Hospital are reportedly receiving treatment on the hospital floors, due to a shortage of beds.
