The former WWE world heavyweight champion shocked the whole world when he announced on Twitter that he is retiring from the in-ring competition:
Due to medical reasons, effective immediately, I am announcing my retirement. Tonight on Raw, I’ll have a chance to elaborate. #gratitude

It just isn’t fair to Bryan that a seemingly in-his-prime superstar can be entertaining millions one day and then be forced to retire the next. Although he said, “Wrestling doesn’t owe us anything,” Bryan said, “We do this because we love to do this.”
Bryan’s speech concluded with his asking the Seattle crowd to join him and his wife in one final “Yes!” chant, per WWE:
One final #YES chant for @WWEDanielBryan on @WWENetwork! #ThankYouDanielBryan #RAW https://t.co/vFl3b1Jdj0

WWE Hall of Famer shared their thoughts on Bryan’s retirement:
Even in retirement @WWEDanielBryan can plug a charity & have a “that’s what she said” moment! cheers, brother #ThankYouDanielBryan

With many competitions before him, he could become an NXT trainer if he wants to remain involved. His experience would be a welcome addition to a roster that’s already thriving in popularity.
