Basavaraj Bommai is a Lingayat, and in form is the tallest leader of the community. The exit of BS Yediyurappa was anticipated for a long time and BJP didn’t want to repeat the same mistake as Congress did in 1990’s when Virendra Patil was the CM and paid a heavy electrol price.
