In an encounter with the Uttar Pradesh Police Special Task Force (UPSTF) team led by DySP Navendu and DySP Vimal at Jhansi on Thursday, Asad, the son of mafia-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed, and shooter Ghulam, both wanted in the Umesh Pal murder case of Prayagraj and carrying rewards of Rs. 5 lahks each were both killed. Advanced foreign-made weaponry was found during the operation.
Asad is the main suspect in the case because, according to the police, he shot Umesh Pal in Prayagraj on February 24 while it was still daylight.
