The Paris Olympics 2024 bronze medalist Indian Hockey goalkeeper, PR Sreejesh has recently announced his plans to follow the footsteps of cricket icon Rahul Dravid. He aspires to become a coach just like his idol Rahul Dravid. Sreejesh has been a part of the Indian Hockey team for more than 10 years and said that he is impressed by Rahul Dravid’s coaching style. Dravid knows how to bring out the best in a player.
Sreejesh, who has won numerous awards including the Padma Shri; the fourth- highest civilian award in India. He believes that becoming a coach is the next best option for him after he retires. He has spent his life playing the sport that he loves. The sport feels very natural to him. He wants to give it back to the hockey community by coaching the youngsters.
The journey of Dravid has inspired the 34- year-old goalie. He believes that he is one of the great batsmen in the history of cricket to becoming a fruitful coach. Dravid is currently the head coach of Indian Under- 19 and A teams, he has been acknowledged with helping country’s top youngsters
Sreejesh aspires to adapt the coaching philosophy of Dravid, which values the importance of discipline, hard work and teamwork. He believes that these values are essential for every athlete in order to succeed in their sport. A very popular nickname of Dravid is “wall”.
