The Spanish club will pay him GBP 88.5 million in the beginning, with the possibility of increasing to GBP 115 million. If he receives this sum, he will become the most expensive British player.

Jude Bellingham played for Dortmund for three years and was just named Bundesliga Player of the Year.

He wrote a farewell statement on the Dortmund website, confirming his resignation. Jude added, “Thank you to everyone at BVB and to the fans for everything over the past three years.”

He added, “It’s been an honor to wear your jersey so many times, in big and small moments. Even though I look forward to my next destination, I will never forget the journey there. Once Borussia always Borussia. All the best for the future.”

Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke expressed his gratitude to the player, writing, “We thank Jude for three years of passion for Borussia Dortmund. It was a fantastic time together.”

Earlier, Real Madrid coach Carlos Ancelotti acknowledged Jude as one of the best midfielders in the world, as well as his own players, particularly the younger ones.

Jude Bellingham began his professional career as an under-8 player with Birmingham City. He made his debut for Birmingham’s under-23 team at the age of 15 and played for the club’s under-18 team when he was just 14 years old.

In 2018, he made his debut against Nottingham Forest, scoring the game’s only goal in the 87th minute. According to rumours, Jude declined a GBP 20 million bid from Manchester United in 2020.

He joined Dortmund in July 2020 for a fee of GBP 25 million. As a result, he became the most expensive 17-year-old player.
