Amit Shah Honors Police Martyrs on Police Commemoration Day

On October 21, 2024, Amit Shah honored India’s fallen police personnel on Police Commemoration Day in Delhi. Shah honored the 216 police officers who sacrificed their lives in the past year while serving the nation. Their dedication and courage have been instrumental in protecting India’s citizens and safeguarding national security. 

Amit Shah highlighted rising threats to India, including drones, cybercrime, narcotics smuggling, and AI misuse for violence. Amit Shah also warned of efforts to provoke religious sentiments and stir communal tensions to destabilize the country. Shah assured the gathering that India’s police forces are vigilant and well-equipped to face these challenges head-on.

Shah also highlighted the government’s introduction of new criminal laws designed to deliver swifter justice. Amit Shah emphasized that once fully implemented, these laws will ensure justice within three years of case registration. The reform aims to reduce case backlogs, expedite criminal resolutions, and enable police to focus on emerging threats.

The Union Home Minister expressed his deepest gratitude, stating, “I bow to our martyrs immortalized by their supreme sacrifices in the line of duty.” Amit Shah acknowledged the bravery of India’s police force, whose dedication protects the nation from terrorism, smuggling, and infiltration.
