In his next movie Oh My God 2, Akshay Kumar is back, this time portraying a figure akin to Lord Shiva. On Instagram, he posted the teaser with the message “Rakh vishwas (have faith).” He is depicted in a shirtless form with long dreadlocks and ash on his forehead as he invokes Lord Shiva for Pankaj Tripathi’s character, the devotee.
While Paresh Rawal played an atheist in the first Oh My God, Pankaj Tripathi plays Kanti Sharan Mudgal, a devotee of Lord Shiva, in OMG 2. The teaser begins with Pankaj Tripathi’s voiceover, in which he claims that while a person can demonstrate either God’s existence or his absence by professing atheism, God always intervenes on behalf of someone in need.
It opens with a reference to Paresh’s tale from the first chapter and continues by showcasing how devotedly Pankaj Tripathi’s Kanti Sharan Mudgal worships Lord Shiva and provides insights into his family’s tragic past. Another image shows a little child attempting suicide and falling beneath a train.
Yami Gautam also stars in OMG 2
However, there is no indication of Yami Gautam, who plays a lawyer in the movie. Oh My God 2, which was directed by Amit Rai, is a follow-up to the first, in which Akshay played the role of Lord Krishna.
Last week, Yami announced her appearance in OMG 2. On Instagram, she posted a still from the movie and said, “Miliye Kamini Maheshwari se. #OMG2 in theatres on August 11!”
Yami previously stated to Bollywood Hungama about working on OMG 2 that “He (Akshay) is a very good producer also, and someone who is very passionate about this film.” I could tell from the narrative that he really wants to succeed with the proper group of people. Of course, I took advantage of whatever opportunity I had to collaborate with the amazing actor Pankaj Tripathi. With the new writing, there is another viewpoint that is very pertinent, discussed, but not discussed. It will be intriguing to see, then.
In theatres, OMG 2 will compete alongside Gadar 2 starring Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel. According to reports, it features Govind Namdev, who also appeared in OMG, and Arun Govil as Lord Rama.
