Mercedes-Benz India has introduced the SL55 AMG Roadster, with a starting price of Rs 2.35 crore (ex-showroom). The seventh generation model, which was unveiled for the global market in 2021, will be delivered to the country via CBU. The sports vehicle comes in two trim levels and eight exterior color options. The S-Class Cabriolet and AMG GT Roadster have been replaced by the SL.
Sweptback LED headlights, a Panamericana grille, gloss black ORVMs, new blacked-out 20-inch alloy wheels (21-inch optional), red or yellow brake calipers, quad-tip exhausts, an adjustable spoiler, and wraparound LED tail lights are all standard on the Mercedes-AMG SL55 Roadster. The model’s soft top can be opened and closed in 15 seconds at speeds of up to 60 kmph and is available in Black, Grey, and Red.
The Mercedes-AMG SL55 Roadster’s interior has AMG performance seats, carbon-fiber, and Alcantara inserts throughout, AMG-specific elements throughout, a completely digital instrument dashboard, an 11.9-inch vertically aligned tilt-able MBUX touchscreen infotainment system, ambient lighting, and HUD. The SL55 AMG has eight airbags, a Pre Safe system, pedestrian protection, active lane-keeping assist, and other safety measures.
The Mercedes-Benz SL55 AMG Roadster is driven by a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine that produces 473 horsepower and 700 Newton meters of torque. With a nine-speed automatic gearbox, the soft-top convertible can accelerate from a standstill to 100 kmph in 3.9 seconds and reach an electronically-limited top speed of 295 kmph.
In India, the Mercedes-AMG SL 55 Roadster will compete with the Porsche 911 Carrera S Cabriolet, which costs Rs 2.18 crore, and the Lexus LC 500h, which costs Rs 2.39 crore.
