Manish Sisodia, a former deputy chief minister of Delhi who was detained by the CBI after being apprehended in connection with the Delhi excise policy case, will appear in court on Monday.
Today when deputy CM of Delhi Manish Sisodia was brought to the court, the CBI custody was extended to 14 days. In connection with allegations of anomalies in the formulation and application of the excise policy of the Government of the National Capital Region of Delhi, he was detained by the investigating agency (GNCTD).
What was the case?
On February 28, after his arrest on claims of fraud in Delhi’s liquor excise policy, he submitted his resignation as Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister. Sisodia has been charged with corruption in connection with the Delhi liquor policy, which was abandoned after Lt. Governor VK Saxena requested a CBI investigation. The charge was that the government violated the law and gave liquor vendors improper benefits. According to AAP, Sisodia is being “mentally tortured and harassed” by the CBI to accept the “baseless” accusations levelled against him.
What was AAP’s move over this?
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) other leaders claimed in his bail petition filed before a trial court that holding him in detention would be ineffective because all recoveries had already been made.
