In a desperate move to whitewash the image of former Tehelka editor-in-chief Tarun Tejpal, Mid-Day in a column has dubbed sexual assault as ‘brouhaha’ and rape as a ‘grave error.’
Here is the article that appeared in Mid Day:
The article depicts Tejpal as a martyr who became the victim of media trial for committing a petty crime. Tejpal is currently out on bail in an alleged rape case. The column has disgracefully tried to show Tarun Tejpal as a celebrated editor and not someone who is accused of raping her daughter’s friend during ThinkFest.
Reactions:
Its disgusting & despicable when one defends a Rapist, please stop victim-shaming. Tarun Tejpal’s money isn’t going to help your conscience.

Rape committed by Tarun Tejpal is suddenly just a ‘grave error’ for ‘liberal voices’. Excuse me. Rapist is a Rapist. pic.twitter.com/QsIR5cig7f

I am still shocked how @msangghvi can term a crime as horrific as rape, a grave error by Tarun Tejpal
