Since 2012, 11th October is celebrated as the International Day of the Girl Child or the Day of the Girl. It is an international observance day declared by United Nations. The significance of the day is to raise awareness of issues faced by girls internationally surrounding education, nutrition, child marriage, legal and medical rights. The celebration of the day also “reflects the successful emergence of girls and young women as a distinct cohort in development policy, programming, campaigning, and research.” Here are some of the quotes by powerful women around the world.
